Plato's Home Movies, 2010 - 2012
I used a projection screen to location scout for my Blue Line of Woods pieces. I'd wander around parks and woods, setting up the screen where I thought the light might be interesting and watch the shadows fall on its surface. Joggers would run past and slow down to watch these "nature films" with me. It occurred to me that I could look at this process as a temporal site-specific performance about photography in its most essential form. Each photograph is a 16" x 20" pigment print in an edition of 3. The films are "prepared projections", meant to be projected upon images of themselves created by exposing light sensitive paper to the projected film.
