Sunburn, 2006 - 2007

I worked at a one-hour photo store in college. Hanging out in the lab, I would find every photograph of a sunset and make an extra copy for myself. I found them fascinating--I didn't think they were any good, and it made me realize that I don't think anyone has ever made a photograph of a sunset that could rival a sunset itself. I took it upon myself to make these photographs better analogs to the sunset. I soaked them in bleach and distressed the dyes in order to bring out the intense reds, yellows, and oranges. Each photograph is a unique c-print, 4" x 6" or 5" x 7". Editions are available in larger sizes.
